Santa Barbara has many architectural buildings, like the old Hotel Virginia, El Pueblo Viejo district and the event hosting towers of the Old Mission. The County Courthouse features colorful murals, while the clock tower and observation deck give a scenic view of the city. The Lobero theatre was opened in 1873, rebuilt in the 1920’s by George Washington Smith and still hosts premier arts events. The founder’s detailed city planning was what allowed Santa Barbara to maintain its architectural legacy.
