Hospice of Santa Barbara endeavours to assist all individuals in the community who have experienced the loss of a loved one. Understanding that youths often have the hardest time adapting to loss, the organization focuses much of its programming on their unique situations. One of the most important programs offered by the Hospice of Santa Barbara is the I Have a Friend program, which pairs young individuals struggling through grief with a trained adult volunteer who also experienced the loss of a parent at a young age, notes Kenny Slaught.
