The massive project allows for the preservation of the historical building’s character, while also providing state-of-the-art upgrades. Enhancements like seismic upgrades ensure that both the building and the tens of thousands of pieces of art inside are better protected. The project also will create 25 percent more gallery space to make the museum an even more important epicenter of Santa Barbara’s community. In all, this renovation is the most comprehensive the museum has ever undertaken, notes Kenny Slaught.
