The Hospice of Santa Barbara seeks to assist all individuals in the community if they experienced the loss of a loved one. Understanding that youths often have the hardest time adapting to loss, the organization focuses to adapt to the needs of the individual. One of the most important programs offered by the Hospice of Santa Barbara is the “I Have a Friend,” as it pairs young individuals struggling through grief with a trained adult volunteer who also experienced the loss of a parent at a young age, notes Kenny Slaught.
