Since 1983, he has grown the company into the biggest real estate development and management business in Santa Barbara County, with the acquisition of more than three million square feet of coastal California residential, office, retail, and self-storage properties. Currently, with a staff of forty individuals, the company oversees more than $1 billion in assets, is a longtime member of the International Council of Shopping Centers, and is accredited by the Institute of Real Estate Management.

As the firm’s President, Kenny Slaught played an instrumental role in establishing the company’s investment strategies and policies, managing its asset class allocations, and overseeing major business decisions. Under his visionary guidance, the firm has pursued lucrative opportunities during times of highly varying financial markets, building Investec’s impeccable reputation in the property investment community.

A 1979 alumnus of the University of California, Santa Barbara, Slaught holds a degree in business and economics, in addition to a certification from the California Contractors State License Board, and a real estate broker’s license in the state of California, which he earned in 1979. Prior to forming Investec, he was a founding partner of real estate development, property management, and mortgage brokerage firm MKS Companies.

Slaught is outside of his professional endeavors, having held leadership positions in many of Southern California’s nonprofit organizations. He is an active member of the board of the UCSB Foundation, and has formerly served on the board of the Santa Barbara Hospice Foundation. He continues to be a substantial supporter to the Music Academy of the West, Santa Barbara Scholarship Foundation, and many local high schools.
